Born in Port Cartier, Quebec, Canada, Shannon Whittle is a visual artist who lives and works in Ottawa-Gatineau, Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Design in industrial design at OCAD University in 2005 and has studied visual arts at the University of Ottawa. Whittle’s work has been exhibited in public and private galleries in and around Ottawa-Gatineau and Kingston and her paintings are held in the collections of the University of Ottawa School of Social Work, Hydro Ottawa, and the City of Ottawa. Whittle has helped run community-engaged art installations and has taught community art workshops in painting, construction, printmaking, and collage. In addition to her art practice, she works with her community in the urban core to design, implement and nurture complex native ecosystem habitats to support biodiversity in the city. Whittle has also worked in the fields of industrial design, product safety risk management, and horticulture.
